A Nod to Current Events

My Dear Lovelians,

I don't know if you've noticed, but current events haven't been very positive lately. One after another, the list lengthens with every passing day leaving little room for hope in a bright future. So what can be done? This question has been weighing heavily on my heart recently as I've mulled my previous responses over in my head. So far, my responses have included venting, slander, removing myself from the equation, and just general complaining. Helpful? I think not.

One million reason why, you shouldn't even try
After all you're just one heart, a single candle in the dark

Feeling overloaded with helplessness concerning the direction the future seems to be heading, I eventually realized every age on the timeline of history has had its cumulonimbus, the massive purple cloud hovering over everyone's houses just waiting to drop the storm to end all storms and "end the world as we know it," as the street-corner criers would wail. From expanding empires covering most of the globe to world wars and the spread of Communism (Bert the Turtle anybody?) to acts of terror and Ebola, there will always be something, and venting just doesn't satisfy, nor does giving up and declaring everything's going to Hell in a handbasket.

So what can I do? I don't have fame, but I do have neighbors and random strangers I run into at my favorite local coffee shop. I don't have a lot of money, but small acts of kindness typically don't cost a cent, just maybe a bit more of my time and *gulp* social skills. So here we go...looking for the beautiful ready to document and share. Ha! Take that darkness!

Whatever you do, just don't look back
Oh somebody needs the light you have
Sincerely,
Olivia

P.S. Put down the paper once in a while (I swear it will change your life)
